Who I am

Your IT Guy provides home IT support around Leigh-on-Sea, wider Essex and London by arrangement, with remote support available across the UK.

If you have a question about how your personal information is used, contact hello@youritguyessex.co.uk.

When you contact me or use my services, I may collect:

  • Your first and last name.
  • Your postcode and, if a visit is arranged, your full address.
  • Your email address and phone number.
  • Your preferred contact method.
  • Information you provide about the IT problem or service you need.
  • Information needed to arrange and provide agreed work.

Why I use your information

I use personal information where necessary to:

  • Respond to your enquiry.
  • Understand the support or setup work you require.
  • Check whether you are within my service area.
  • Provide estimates or quotations and agree any travel charge.
  • Arrange home visits or remote support.
  • Provide services you have asked me to carry out.
  • Communicate with you about your enquiry or agreed work.
  • Keep records where required for legal, tax or accounting purposes.

Lawful basis for using your information

When you contact me about IT support, I normally process your information because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, or because it is necessary to provide a service you have agreed for me to carry out.

I may also process information where necessary to comply with legal obligations, including appropriate financial and accounting record keeping.

Who your information is shared with

I do not sell your personal information.

I use third-party services where necessary to run the website and communicate with customers. These currently include:

  • Formspree, which processes enquiries submitted through the website contact form.
  • Cloudflare, which provides website hosting, DNS, security and email routing.
  • My email provider, which is used to receive and respond to communications.

Information may also be disclosed where I am legally required to do so.

How long I keep your information

Enquiries that do not result in work being carried out will normally be deleted when they are no longer reasonably required, and generally within 12 months.

If you become a customer, some information may need to be kept for longer for service, financial, tax, accounting or legal record-keeping purposes.

Keeping your information secure

I take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure. Access to customer information is limited to what is needed to respond to enquiries and provide services.

Cookies and similar technologies

I do not currently use advertising or analytics cookies on this website. The website and third-party services may use technologies that are necessary for hosting, security or the operation of requested features.
